Special Instruction

The Role of the Early Intervention Special Instructor:

The Early Intervention Special Instructor provides support services for families with children from birth to three years of age who have developmental delay. The Special Instructor will deliver services and provide resources for children that will enhance daily opportunities for learning by participating in family routines. The Special Instructor will call on families’ strengths, values, and diversity as they collaborate to enhance the child’s development. Special Instructors use evidence based practice to provide any of the following services as part of their plan of care:

  • Developmental activities
  • Movement and music activities
  • Tactile exploration
  • Book experiences
  • Community resource information
  • Multi-sensory toy and book share
